Here are a few frequently asked questions about our club and facilities. Who takes care of my horse? Owners must provide all care for their horse(s). If you go on vacation or can not care for your horses, another member may take care of your horse(s). It is up to you to work out details with the caregiver. How long does my horse have to stay in quarantine? Horses must stay in quarantine for a minimum of 10 days. How often do I need to deworm my horse? Horses need to be dewormed every other month. Vaccination requirements and dewormer schedule is in the Member contract packet. Does my child have to wear a helmet? Per Base Order, all children under the age of 18 MUST wear a helmet. The SGRC is in no way responsible for ensuring that a child wears a helmet; the parents/guardians have the ultimate responsibility for the welfare of their children and ensuring that they comply with club regulations and Base directives. May I bring my dog to the barn? No, pets will not be allowed in the club area. Where can I ride? The arenas, the trails in front of the stable grounds, and on the "far side" of Riseley pier on Onslow beach (the animal side). Can I bring my friends to the stables? YES! You may bring guests to the stables, but your guests are your responsibility and may only be there if you are there. Does SGRC have riding lessons available? Currently we do not have "riding lessons", however, members may help members with riding techniques and horse training. Does SGRC do trail rides or pony rides to non-members? No. We only have privately-owned horses at SGRC. If I board at another facility, may I bring my horse to SGRC to ride with a friend? Yes, you will need to become an Associate Member. SGRC will also need to maintain a copy of your negative Coggins. |
